Concerts and more concerts

Being on the night shift, I've shot a lot of concerts.  I started out shooting smaller venues like House of Blues and the Granada, but this week, I got to shoot at the verizon theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas.  I hope this means I've proven myself capable of shooting concerts.. Anywho, I love shooting them. The lighting, the energy, and the fact that I get to be in the photo pit right by stage are all reasons I love it some much.  Not only do I shoot the performer, I like to turn around and shoot the audience.  Sometimes there will be a killer moment that I just have to capture, like a girl crying over England's pop star Sam Smith or a mom with the her teens wearing Bastille masks. I just love the atmosphere concerts allow and some great images that can come along with it.

Life at the DMN

Since I started with the Dallas Morning News, it feels like I have been going non-stop.  I've never worked for a large newspaper before, and I still can't get over the fact that I was picked for the DMN.  I can already feel my self becoming a better photographer with constant daily assignments and feedback from editors.  Here are some samples of the kind of work I've been doing so far.
